Cut-Grip – Turning Tools & Griping Inserts
Turning at Large Depths of
Cut and High Feed
With CUT-GRIP and TOP-GRIP turning tools it is normally recommended to use large depths of cut and higher feed in semifinishing and finishing than with standard ISO tools.
This guarantees the frontal clearance angle aº between the cutting edge of the insert and the workpiece.
Turning at Small Depths of
Cut and Low Feeds
When the depth of cut and the feed are too small, the low side forces are not sufficient to cause the required side deflection. The frontal clearance angle between the insert cutting edge and the workpiece will be too small, resulting in vibration.
Solution
Increase feed to strengthen the side forces until a minimum frontal clearance angle aº is attained.
