  PICCO Mini-bars for Face Grooving in a 6 mm (.236") Diameter  
  Solid carbide mini-bars for face grooving in small diameters with small widths of cut are now available in the PICCO-CUT Line from ISCAR.

These new tools have extended the range of ISCAR's extensive line face grooving and face turning tools. The solid carbide, high accuracy, ground bars are available in widths of 1 to 3 mm (.039 to .118") for face grooving of a minimum major diameter of 6 or 8 mm (.236 or .315"). When face grooving the major diameter of 6 mm (.236"), the diameter of the remaining central cylinder is 3 mm (.118").

The rake face is provided with a ground positive chipformer and a sharp cutting edge for easy chip flow and lower cutting forces. The small mini-bars are PVD coated in grade IC228. The 1 micron grain size of the substrate with a relative high percentage of binder insures high toughness, while the TiCN and TiN coating layers provide longer tool life. The mini-bars are available for right- and left-hand machining and are mounted in a hollow toolholder and securely held in place by two clamping screws.
