  Precision Grooving of Standard "V" Shapes in Pulleys with CUT-GRIP GPV Inserts  
  ISCAR has designed new inserts for precision grooving applications on pulleys for V-belts. The new inserts, designated GPV, are a part of the CUT-GRIP line. These inserts can replace many standard ISO profiling and custom-made inserts. GPV inserts are ground to standard sizes from CUT-GRIP blanks, including the precise pitch and profile required in the V-pulley standard. The corner angle is designed for grooves with 40°± 30' and pitches of 2.34 and 3.56 mm (.092 and .140").

Other pitches, angels and corner radii, may be ordered as semi standard. The inserts are equipped with one, three, or four teeth. The higher number of V-shaped teeth provides economical solutions for machining multi-grooved pulleys. The CUT-GRIP holders for GPV inserts are slightly modified - the bottom jaw is shortened to insure proper clearance.

All inserts are available in the CVD grade IC428 and in the MT-CVD coated IC9054 grade. The standard IC428 is a CVD Al2O3 coated grade covering the ISO K10-K20 range. It is the most recommended solution for machining cast iron. The new IC9054 grade with the high toughness ISO P40 substrate and MT-CVD coating of Al2O3 + TiN provides excellent wear resistance in machining various steels and steel alloys.
